OK, but, but the QRM conditions may be entirely different by then.
Must we assume all these are direct, no relays? 2300 is also a new
time for any English broadcast, rather late for Africa; 1400 had
been only on 9640 for SE Asia in A-16. Times are not explicitly
labeled UT, but probably. Are they also carrying out such tests in
other languages? (Glenn Hauser, DXLD)

Back from vacation :)
LIBERIA, 4760, ELWA (presumed), 1457-1529, Oct 12. Often
I check here for AIR Port Blair during my mornings, but today
was a first for me, hearing Africa via long path; no trace of AIR at
all; certainly sounded like an African vernacular language; some
religious songs; series of ads; seemed to be religious programs;
my local sunrise was at 1413 UT. Positive was not India. My weak
audio of preaching at http://goo.gl/Oecbc4

scheduled in Shona at that time. Sorry for the mistake.
Appreciate the correction!

BOUGAINVILLE. 3325, NBC Bougainville, 1156*, Oct 12. Before
going off, mixing with RRI Palangkaraya (which was later not on the
air at 1339, so RRI went off very early today).
INDONESIA. 9525.9, VOI, Oct 12 with anomaly; 1141 in English;
1221 still in English; 1304 normal English segment (news, "Commentary,"
"Focus," "News in Brief," "Indonesian Wonders," "Let's Speak Bahasa
Indonesia," but no "Today in History"); mostly fair and readable, but with
audio hum; 1402 still in English.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 3260, NBC Madang, 1203*, Oct 12. Did
not complete the "NBC News in Brief"; poor.
3275, NBC Southern Highlands (presumed), 1203, Oct 12. Just an
open carrier here, but below threshold level, so no audio; still on the
air at 1236
[non-log] 7324.95 Wantok Radio Light. Oct 12 checking at 1235
only to find the frequency completely clear; so CRI (7325.0) is
also silent at this time.
SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Wantok FM relay via SIBC, 1204,
Oct 12. Playing the usual pop songs (Air Supply with "Even The
Nights Are Better," etc.); frequent IDs ("This is Wantok FM 96.3.
Good times, great music," etc.); off the air for several minutes
about 1222; still broadcasting at 1303.
UNID on 5020, with open carrier here today at 1436. Hiroyuki
Komatsubara (Japan) has also been hearing this; the open
carrier (no audio) is much weaker than SIBC is normally heard.
TAJIKISTAN. 4790, BBC Uzbek, 1328-1330*, Oct 12. Another day
with no CNR1 programming jamming; poor/CODAR QRM; off after
time pips.
VANUATU. 7260 (slightly on the low side), R. Vanuatu (presumed),
1237, Oct 12. Playing pop songs ("Easy Like Sunday Morning" by
Lionel Richie, etc.); China QRM; checking 3944.2 after 1400 and
surprised to not even hear an open carrier from them.

Re: Myanmar - New program schedule
Ron Howard -
Oct 17, 2016 14:55 UTC No.1792
MYANMAR. New program schedule. Starting in
Feb 2014, through April 2016, I had enjoyed hearing
the Radio Australia language lessons on 9730
(Myanmar Radio), on Monday and Wednesday.
During April, I was no longer hearing this unique show.
Oct 17 (Monday), finally found their new schedule for
the R. Australia produced "English for Business," on
5985, from 1215 to 1235; "Lesson 16, A Presentation";
full transcript of today's show at http://goo.gl/RhAa0H ;
believe their schedule for this program will be sometime
during the 1200-1300 UT segment, on Monday and
Wednesday. In the past the exact timing of these
programs usually varied somewhat.
It will be recalled that back in Nov 2013, ABC signed an
agreement with Myanmar to share programming (full
2013 story at http://goo.gl/VVSOl8 ).
Based on some of my recent observations, Myanmar Radio,
on 5985, also has the following:
VOA's Special English on Wednesday, during a portion of
1530-1600.
NHK's "Friends Around the World" on Thursday and Friday,
during a portion of 1530-1600.
NHK also produces a radio drama in the Burmese language
for Myanmar Radio, but am not sure of the schedule on 5985.
Appreciate any corrections or additions.

BHUTAN. 6035, BBS, 1137-1200*, Oct 19. Mixing with PBS
Yunnan - Voice Shangri-la (today also 1200*); playing pop songs
(Nobel prize winner for literature Bob Dylan with "Just Like a
Woman," etc.).
CHINA. 6035, PBS Yunnan, on Oct 13, nice to hear English
SA/IDs (". . . Voice Shangri-la") at 1130 and again at 1139; mixing
with Bhutan/BBS; 1200*. Oct 15 with classical orchestra music
1205-1223*, with Bhutan/BBS already off the air. Oct 18 again
with classical music 1200-1206*; Oct 19 with 1200*.
7200, Firedragon (musical jamming), 1130, Oct 19; very strong
against RTI, along with the usual CNR1 jamming.
INDONESIA. 3325, Pro 1 RRI Palangkaraya, 1114, Oct 13.
Tuning by, noted that they were playing the patriotic song
釘agimu Negeri・(For You Our Country) and local ID; this
song was composed by Indonesian musician and composer
Koesbini, in 1942; much stronger than NBC Bougainville;
http://goo.gl/XTawQP has a studio quality rendition of "Bagimu
Negeri."
MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, 1235-1255, with the Wednesday
(Oct 19) language "Lesson 16, A Presentation," which was a repeat of
the Monday show (heard 1215-1235); strong N. Korea pulsating noise
jamming till 1251, which was warming up for Shiokaze; after jamming
off, almost fair; always starts and ends with the same theme music. As
often noted in the past when this was formerly on 9730, the Monday
show is on the air earlier than the Wednesday program.
TAIWAN. 9410, Fu Hsing BS (presumed), on Oct 14, 15 and 17, hear
at various times between *1100-1300*; mostly EZL music and in Chinese;
suddenly went off the air in mid-music. Oct 18 and 19 not on during 1100-
1300, but Oct 18 did find then with the usual 1000* (is off the air 1000-1100),
suddenly went off the air. Scheduling here is never what I would call regular.
9774 seems to only be on the air very rarely and I have not heard that in a
long time.

KYRGYZSTAN. 4009.8, Radio Birinchi via Kyrgyz. After a long
time of being off frequency, I noted on Sept 19 that they were
on exact frequency (confirmed by Wolfy) and subsequently heard
as such, but on Oct 19 & 20 they are now back to again being off
frequency. What happened?
MYANMAR/BURMA. 7200, Myanmar Radio. Oct 20, at 1300
noted both RTI and CNR1 jamming went off the air after the time
pips; expected to hear Myanmar, but not on the air; during
subsequent checking till 1350 and still off the air, but heard at
1421 with fair-good reception.
RUSSIA. 7345, Radio Sakha, via Yakutsk. Surprised to hear this on
Oct 20, at 0357. That would be about 4 hours before their sunset! At
0400 the usual IS (Jew's harp) and time pips; into the news; unable
to hear 7295 due to strong QRM there. This was a first for me, to hear
them at this time period.

you want to reach the people, educate their children"; his speech
was interrupted by the opposition lawmakers who at one point
loudly protested and caused a ruckus till they finally walked out
on the PM's speech; preempted regular programming; after

CHINA. 4940, Voice of Strait, 1500, Oct 22. Saturday only English
program "Focus on China"; started with Air Supply singing "Making
Love Out of Nothing at All"; on Monday, China sent two "astronauts"
into space for 30 days (actually "taikonauts" would seem to be a more
accurate word); reviewed the history of China's space program; SA/ID
"You are now listening to Focus on China, Voice of Strait Broadcast
Station"; mostly fair.
[non-log] 6035, PBS Yunnan (Voice Shangri-la), seemed to already be
off the air when first checked at 1142; only BBS/Bhutan heard till 1201*.
INDONESIA[non logs]. 3325, Pro 1 RRI Palangkaraya, Oct 22 noted
off the air at 1203 and subsequent checking. RRI Wamena also silent
today on 4869.89, at 1332, leaving the frequency clear for AIR (Delhi-
Kingsway) on 4870.57, which has been off frequency since I first noticed
it on Sept 4.
MALAYSIA[non-log]. 11665, Wai FM. Oct 22 continues to be silent.
MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, Oct 21. Doing fairly well at start
of their English segment at 1530. Fairly clear audio of the theme music
and SA/ID at http://goo.gl/oHCX1Y , which goes something like:
"Hello listeners. Good evening. Here is our final transmission for today,
radiating on 5985 kHz., 50.13 meters, 576 kHz., 520 meters and 594 kHz,
505 meters. Now we start with the news."
BTW - My Box.com audio was delayed on Oct 21, as that site was
one that was hit with the distributed denial of service attack (DDoS).
Could not access their site for hours.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA[non-log]. 7324.96, Wantok Radio Light. Now
that Shiokaze has moved away for their *1405 (now down on 5985),
this frequency is once again clear to check for WRL, but not heard
at 1408, on Oct 22. Has been off the air for a long time now.
SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Wantok FM relay, 1217-1302, Oct 21.
Yet another extended broadcast; pops songs; Wantok FM SA/IDs (very
different format than the SIBC extended broadcast of only Public
Service Announcements, commercial announcements and no SA/IDs);
audio ended at 1302, but open carrier with decent strength was
noted past 1337.
TAIWAN. 9410, Fu Hsing BS (presumed), 1134, Oct 22. Very weak
signal, but certainly here with music.
VANUATU. 7260 (slightly on the low side), R. Vanuatu, 1205-1305,
Oct 22. Religious program in vernacular, along with some religious
songs; into program of non-stop pop songs (Elton John with "Can You
Feel the Love Tonight," etc.); 1304 drums and conch shell horn before
the news; some China QRM.
3944.2 has been unheard for a while now; not even a trace of a carrier.

Outstanding propagation; rarely heard at this level; numerous
clear SA/IDs ("Radio Nacional de Angola"); African and EZL pop
songs; 0400 time pips; news; as Wolfy has already reported
today, after 0410 there was intermittent digital noise (QRM); a
radio drama noted at 0438 with no QRM; still being heard at

BHUTAN. 6035.0, BBS, 1144-1200*, Oct 23. Pop songs and
announcer clearly in English; PBS Yunnan off the air before 1200.
INDIA. 4970, AIR Shillong, 1242-1314, Oct 23. The usual
Sunday program of American country & western songs ("You
Do Your Thing" by Montgomery Gentry, "Cups" by Anna
Kendrick, etc.); DJ in English; at times almost fair. Not my
favorite music, but knowing it was coming all the way from
Shillong, made it more palatable.
5040, AIR Jeypore, 1331, Oct 23. Fair signal with subcontinent
music. Many times during my local mornings, this is the strongest
AIR regional station that I hear.
5050, AIR Aizawl, 1220-1230, Oct 23. Local SA/ID; into some type of
news in English; 1225-1230 in Hindi; 1230 with the New Delhi audio
feed of the news in English, giving clear ID "This is All India Radio.
The news read by . ."; very respectable signal strength, even though
mixing with Beibu Bay Radio (CHINA).
KOREA NORTH. 3277.0 (AM), V28 ("The Parrot"), 1336-1339*,
Oct 23. Korean numbers station; poor.

TAIWAN[non-log]. 9410, Fu Hsing BS. For a long time now it has been
possible for me to hear Taiwan (when they were broadcasting, which was
not daily) in the *1100-1300* time period. Unfortunately on Oct 30, the
B16 schedule started, resulting in my hearing CNR5 here (scheduled

New 6145. Finally moved away from ex: 7410, where they
had very strong QRM from CRI; now on 6145 they have
light QRM from PBS Qinghai; Shiokaze schedule 1300-
1400; noted closing info at 1356, in English; off at 1400*,
at which time I heard RTI start up, along with CNR1
jamming, which completely blocked PBS Qinghai after
1400.
New 5910. Ex: 7325; at *1405, all in Japanese; Shiokaze
intro; usual segment of "Message from the Japanese
Government"; assume into "Furusato No Kaze" ("Wind
of Hometown") program; fair, with no jamming from North
Korea yet.

AUSTRALIA. 4835, ABC Alice Springs NT, 1103-1123, Nov 24.
"Grandstand," with coverage of the cricket match between Australia
vs South Africa, played in Adelaide; interview with captain of the
RSA team; fair. Not carried by RA (9580, 12065 & 12085).
ERITREA. 7180.0, VOBME 2, brief check at 1428, Nov 24, found
them with fair reception; with 7146.55 (VOBME 1) being off the air.
INDONESIA. 4869.9, Pro 1 RRI Wamena, 1232-1302, Thursday,
Nov 24. Kang Guru Indonesia ("KGI") mostly in English, but a few
short segments in Bahasa Indonesia; intro by "Ana" & "Greg"; "Kang
Guru is here, helping you with English"; this was a repeat of the Aug
25 program that I heard here, in which the segment "Good neighbors
make good friends" talked about differences between walking or riding
in Australia and Indonesia; semi-readable; certainly one of their better
Thursday receptions.
KOREA SOUTH. 6135, Voice of Freedom (clandestine), 1556,
Nov 23. Scheduled to be off between 1500-1600; choral National
Anthem; time pips (3+1); into Korean programming; first time I
have heard their sign on; heard through the usual white noise.
MADAGASCAR. 5011.77, R. Madagasikara (presumed), 1519-
1542, Nov 23. Has been many years since I last heard them here;
variety of music; language sounded right to be them, but too weak
to catch an SA/ID. My local sunrise at 1455 UT, their sunset at 1510 UT,
so nice grayline reception.
MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, 1545-1554, Wednesday,
Nov 23. VOA Special English show about Christian singer Be
Be Winans and played some of his music; very readable; mostly
fair. Full transcript and audio streaming of today's show is at
http://goo.gl/givG6D .
SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, SIBC, 1308-1426*, Nov 24. Today had
a SIBC extended broadcast; no SA/IDs, unlike the numerous IDs when
it's a Wantok FM relay; several PSA/promos ("a message from
National ..."); playing non-stop pop/rap songs and one beautiful
Pacific Islands song; one of their better days for listening to music,
but as usual, a hard time deciphering their Public Service
Announcement.

INDIA. 4896.0, AIR Kurseong, occasionally this off frequency
anomaly happens, as it did today (Nov 29), as noted at 1308;
normally, on most days, heard on 4895.0.
4970, AIR Shillong, at 1056, on Nov 29, with unique AIR IS.
JAPAN. 774, JOUB Akita (NHK-2), 1347, on Nov 29, with Chinese
language lesson and of course also in Japanese; confirming that
they still do have lessons in other than just English; almost fair and
certainly is the easiest Trans-Pacific for me to hear.
NEWFOUNDLAND. 6159.96, CKZN. The good news with Vancouver
(CKZU) currently off the air is that this station can now be heard in the
clear; Nov 29, heard 1035-1050 & 1129-1200; local times given, saying
was the "same for most of Labrador," but I note was not the time in St.
John's; local weather; school closures; sports scores; "part one" about
the documentary "Power of the Sweatlodge"; story of a man trying to get
help for his wife, but mental health facilities in "Labrador West" are not
good; reception poor-fair. Very nice to hear them at a decent level for a
change here on the west coast!
SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, SIBC extended broadcast on Nov 29,
1310-1321, with non-stop pop songs (no SA/IDs), so not a Wantok FM
relay; at 1321 the music stopped and they just had dead air (open
carrier), which was still on the air at 1333 tuned out.
TAIWAN. 9774.0, Fu Hsing BS (presumed). Extremely rare to catch
them on this frequency! Nov 29, 1236-1300*; in Chinese with some
music; at times below threshold level audio (but still open carrier);
carrier went off at 1300*, conforming to their schedule. Their other
9410 blocked by CNR5, so unable to confirm //.
VANUATU. 7259.95, R. Vanuatu, 1403-1518, Nov 28. Announcers
in vernacular playing pop Pacific Islands songs and C&W songs
("Colder Weather" sung by Zac Brown Band, etc.); sounded like
promo for "Voice of Bong Yumi"; some ads; 1420 several clear
"Radio Vanuatu" SA/IDs; one of their better receptions; no China
QRM, but slight ham QRM; my sunrise was at 1459 UT.
3944.2, after 1401, not hearing Radio Vanuatu at all; not even a trace
of a carrier, which has been the case for a while now. "RN2, Radio
Nikkei" (Japan) signs off on 3945.0 at 1401* (during weekdays).
BTW - Guess I have not been paying enough attention to RN2 SA/IDs, as
for a long time in the past they just gave "RN2," but now am hearing
mostly "RN2, Radio Nikkei" SA/IDs, which are new to me.

CHINA. new frequency 5979 for Gannan PBS (ex: 5970).
Was first noted by Hiroyuki Komatsubara (Japan) on Dec 3.
I observed them today (Dec 5), from 1314 till off sometime
between 1346-1349, which corresponds to Hiroyuki's recent
observations. Radio Marti (5980) is not much of a problem
for me while in LSB.
Expected to hear relay of CNR11 (per Aoki 1300-1400), but
in fact clearly not // to 7350 (CNR11); by 1340 was able to
confirm 7350 // 6010, due to unique Tibetan chanting being
heard; 6010 (CNR11) is between the strong jamming on
6003 & 6015, so extremely poor reception there.
Also unable to confirm Gannan PBS was // 3990, as there was
only an open carrier there (unable to get any audio).
6035, PBS Yunnan (Voice Shangri-la), Dec 5 noted running past
their normal sign off time 1200* by at least two hours; rare anomaly.
Thanks to an alert from Dave Valko on the east coast (USA), I tuned
in at 1254 to hear non-stop classical western orchestra music with
many one minute breaks (dead air) between selection; this is
normal for them when running past 1200; still on the air at 1402+.

CHINA. 5979.0, Gannan PBS (ex: 5970), 1324-1351*, Dec 7.
Better reception than yesterday; definitely not relaying CNR11
(per Aoki 1300-1400), as 7350 // 6010 (CNR11) had a lot of
unique Tibetan chanting/singing; while Gannan PBS was mostly
announcers in Chinese; heard best in LSB.
5900, CNR1 jamming of RTI (*1200-1400*), at 1256, on Dec 7.
9680, Firedragon music jamming of RTI (*1100-1400*), at 1258,
Dec 7.
ERITREA. 7146.55, VOBME 1 (presumed), 1411, on Dec 7,
with HOA music/singing; not // 7175.0; both almost fair.
7175.0, VOBME 2 (presumed), 1411, on Dec 7, with announcers
in vernacular; not // 7146.55; both almost fair.
MONGOLIA. reactivated 4830, Mongolian Radio 2. Hiroyuki
Komatsubara (Japan) first reported their return on Dec 2; only
weak audio heard on Dec 7, at 1311 and 1358-1400.
SIKKIM. 4835, AIR Gangtok (presumed), 1410, Dec 7. Hearing
traces of subcontinent music, but very faint, under ABC (with "Night
Life" national weather). So on Jan 31, we should be able to finally
have a chance daily to catch for this rarely reported station, in the clear.

AUSTRALIA. RA on Dec 17, found 9580 silent 1422 +
1448, when also unable to hear 12065 nor 12085, but at
1616 did hear 12065 (very faint) // 12085 (fair), with ABC
program of pop songs; program SA/ID "This is Double J";
9580 still off the air. 4835 ABC Alice Springs NT well
heard at 1422 with xmas songs.
RA still with one transmitter off on Dec 18; noted 17840
was off the air; 15240 // 15415, at 0300, with poor reception,
but by 0422 was readable; no RA SA/IDs, only "ABC Local
Radio" and many promos for "ABC news" & "ABC Grand-
stand"; 0513 interview with someone from "Double J."
So both 9580 & 17840 are silent, which normally would
be their strongest frequencies.

7200 [non-log], Myanmar Radio. Back on Nov 7, first noted that
they were no longer here after 1300, at which time the PRC
jamming (CNR1) of Taiwan (RTI) ended and RTI signed off.
So Myanmar changed their schedule back in early November
and has not been heard on 7200 since, during frequent checks

BANGLADESH. 4750, Bangladesh Betar - HS,
suddenly on at *1235, on Dec 19, with the start of
the Monday only SAARC (The South Asian
Association for Regional Cooperation) news
bulletin in English; mixing with CNR1; item about
Friday's (Dec 16) national celebration of the 46th
"Victory Day" festivities, with President Hamid and
Prime Minister Hasina placing wreaths at the
"National Memorial" to pay tribute to the martyred
freedom fighters; 1242 "This is the end of the SAARC
news bulletin" (did not spell out SAARC, but pronounced
it as a word); into Bangla; at 1252 brief weather conditions
in English ("partly cloudy" and gave temperatures), which
is a daily feature.
Any Monday that I am able to make out specific SAARC
news items, is a very good day indeed!
BOUGAINVILLE. 3325, NBC Bougainville, 1150-1156*,
Dec 19. Very nice to have them back on the air again,
after being off for awhile; DJ playing xmas song "Joy to
the World"; suddenly off; did not hear RRI Palangkaraya;
poor.
CHINA. 5979, Gannan PBS (ex: 5970). So for two weeks
now they have continued to use this new frequency; Dec 16,
1331, sounded Chinese; best in LSB, but Cuban jamming
of Radio Marti (5980) is a slight problem; ex: 5970 now a
clear frequency.
Dec 19, for the first time, able to make out 5979 // 3990, at
1317, in Chinese and playing EZL music.
7415, Firedragon (music jamming), 1636, Dec 18; fair-good
against R. Free Asia.
KOREA SOUTH. 5900, Numbers Station V24, 1606-
1608*, Dec 18. Numbers given in Korean.
MADAGASCAR. 5007.68-5007.75v, R. Madagasikara
(presumed), on Dec 18, with moderate drifting; 1457-1600*.
Thorsten Hallmann has recently noted *1700v, so it looks
like they are just off the air for an hour (1600-1700). Checked
if they went to another frequency, but 7105 was silent (last
heard during the 2010 World Cup football/soccer matches
on a regular basis, but not since then) and unable to hear
6135, due to the jamming by N. Korea and broadcast of
Voice of Freedom via S. Korea.
MALAYSIA. 6050, Salam FM, 1510-1602*, Dec 17. Nice
anomaly, as normally this is used as filler after 1500 till they
suddenly pull the plug shortly after that; in vernacular; played
a lot of EZL music; some phone calls; many SA/IDs; better than
fair.

give "Radio Sakha" ID, followed by series of ads (one with rooster
crowing); off with IS (Jew's harp) and time pips (4+1) at 0500*; 7345
many times stronger than 7295, which after 0330 was unusable.

ANGOLA. 4949.73, R. Nacional de Angola, Dec 29, back on the
air after being silent yesterday; believe propagation was not a factor
in yesterdays non-reception, as there was not even a faint carrier
heard; today nicely above threshold level audio; very respectable
signal strength; 0243-0300 pop music; 0300 with time pips (4),
news with sound bite and ending with clear SA/ID; 0305 till tuned out
at 0350, with non-stop music, all of which sounded to me like soca/
calypso genre of Caribbean music; very entertaining.
ETHIOPIA. R. Ethiopia (presumed), continuing to drift around on
Dec 29. At 1443, seemed about 7236.25v, with HOA music, while at
1540, seemed about 7236.63v; much better reception today than on
on Dec 27.
INDONESIA. 4869.9, Pro 1 RRI Wamena, 1256, Thursday, Dec 29.
Tentatively with the Kang Guru Indonesia ("KGI") program, but with
very poor reception due to strong OTH radar.
MADAGASCAR[non-log]. 5007v, R. Madagasikara, at 1539 &
1550, Dec 29, not hear anywhere around 5010, only AIR on 5010.0.
MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, 1543, Thursday, Dec 29.
NHK's "Friends Around the World" with interview of Dr. Tomohiko
Sugishita about African medicine; repeat of a Sept program; very
readable; will be repeated again tomorrow (Friday); played AIDS
prevention song "Ndimakukonda" ("I Love You").
SOLOMON ISLANDS. 9545, SIBC, 0402-0501*, Dec 29. Another
day with better than normal reception; DJ in Pijin playing pop and
C&W songs; commercial announcements in English (car rental,
general hardware supplies, etc.); several spots about "School is out";
0500 ABC news (death of Debbie Reynolds, etc.) till suddenly off.
Normally not heard so well, especially not this early! Winter propagation?

AUSTRALIA. 9580, RA, 1451-1524, Dec 30. Pop music show,
ABC's "Triple J Unearthed"; strong signal, but unable to hear
12065 nor 12085; program SA/IDs between every song; "Triple J
Unearthed. We love Australian music," "Triple J Unearthed,
the best sounds from your own backyard," "The best new
music from your own backyard, Triple J Unearthed," etc.
Break at 1500 for ABC news.
Triple J Unearthed was established in 1995, and clearly aiming for
the younger audience. Website - https://www.triplejunearthed.com/
which has audio streaming.
ZAMBIA. Dec 30, heard 5915 (R. One/ZNBC), 1607-1616, via long path;
in vernacular; under a strong Myanmar Radio also on 5915;
clearly Zambia, as they constantly were playing short snippets of
the Xmas song in English - "Happy Christmas, Happy New Year."
Have been hearing Zambia here most of this month at this time,
but today the first for positive confirmation of identification. So
from now till New Year's Eve, they will undoubtedly be playing
a lot of this song!
BTW - Seems Myanmar has a much later sign off time here, but
when is it? 1557* has CRI signing off here, leaving Myanmar to
dominate Zambia. My local sunrise was at 1520 UT.

SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, SIBC, Dec 31, with special New
Year's Eve broadcast; 1259 "Come on everyone, countdown";
1300 bells ringing; 1305 National Anthem; government speech
in English; mentioning "law and order," "internal security," "no one
likes to be afraid of his neighbor," "negativity," "reaching a
compromise" and ending with "God save the Queen. God bless
the Solomon Islands"; NA again; in Pijin, reading many listener's
emails and texted messages for a "Happy New Year 2017"; many
time checks ("26 minutes into 2017"); played the good Scottish
song "Auld Lang Syne"; started out poor, but improved to fair;
