3945 (ex 7260), R. Vanuatu, after Glenn Hauser's notification to Adrian Sainsbury (thanks to Glenn!), RV moved
here to get away from Mongolia (absent tonight); fundamental frequency (3945) being the only usable signal that
I had; while // 7890, 2nd harmonic was unusable, as was the 3rd harmonic on 11835. Reception on the former 7260
was infinitely better for me!
6300-USB, UNID, at 0808 UT; the usual reciting from the Qur'an.
7260, No Mongolia 0830+ UT and no Vanuatu.
7780, VOI - Channel II English relay via WRMI; mostly pop songs, but at 0812 UT, with world weather; good
reception. Interested to note on Jan 1, ending the news at 0804 UT with "I'll be back in an hour," as I do believe
VOI - Channel II is completely in English, unlike VOI - Channel I that airs many different languages, in one hour
segments.
9100, Echo of Hope - VOH, at 0753 UT, ending the audio feed from a TV program called "Wang cho bo yeong-eo"
(translated into English - Beginner's English); with presenters "Mayu" and "Mini"; exit theme song is the "Party Will

Again, this is the second 'new antenna' test on 5.045 MHz, commencing half an hour before my
local sunset and continuing half an hour past sunset. UTC: 07:30 - 08:30.
The signal should be easily picked up by ZL SDR as well as Hawaii. Don't tune into Australian
receivers, Norfolk Island is 1,700 km east of Australian mainland (full daylight) but only 1000 km
west of New Zealand, which will be already in darkness.
Expectation: if my predictions are correct, the signal should be audible (to some degree) in California,
British Columbia and Alaska.
Also, the carrier itself should be visible in south-west Europe, Spain-France-England via long path,
with the peak around 08:00 UTC.
Unfortunately this is the only slot available for this evening. The programming content same as previously:
Glenn's ID announcements and a few light songs. The transmission will be intermittent, so expect carrier
to disappear for a few minutes. I really want to give you an opportunity to easily identify RadioDX and
request QSL card.
For European listeners: there will be another 2 hours test in coming days, with planned slot 16:30-18:30 at
my sunrise. This path has been tested over and over again on 80m band so you will have a decent chance
to actually hear some audio as well. I don't have the day yet, so please keep an eye for announcement on
WOR group.A big thank you to all who tuned in previously, your feedback is always appreciated.
Current setup: 200W into vertical antenna.

cut off before getting to the Islamic segment.
7780, VOI (Channel Two) relay via WRMI, 0802+, on Jan 11; in English with the news, ending with the usual patriotic song
“Bagimu Negeri”; DJ with "Indonesia Today" and playing many western style pop songs. Clearly they are not relaying the
VOI Channel One programming, as heard over 3325 kHz. Have never heard any OTH radar on 7780.
KOREA SOUTH. 5857.5 (stronger in USB, weaker in LSB), HLL2 Seoul, 0900-0923* UT, Jan 12 & 13. Am continuingly
being amazed by this station's daily exceptionally good signal/audio; for over two months now, I have heard them in

English segment (per schedule "One Word One World [English Moment]"); today with info about Nanning's International
Airport construction of the T3 terminal, which has been fully launched; the 432,000 sqm terminal will feature 63
boarding gates and will be equipped to accommodate up to 34 million passengers a year, etc.; nicely readable.

Nanning, capital and largest city by population of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Southern China and is the
home of Beibu Bay Radio, which has programming in Chinese and Vietnamese.

have started celebrating the Lunar New Year early and decided to close down the station. Please note that during
the Spring Festival Holiday (Lunar New Year's Festival), other Chinese stations will probably have some anomalies
too. The lunar new year is on January 22 (the year of the rabbit).

1002-1009 UT: News/sports in Bislama. After which they played a variety of songs (pop, religious [it was
Sunday!], etc.).
1031-1057: The usual religious (Christian) preaching; ending with "Thank you Lord" for many different things.
1057-1101: Religious songs; 1101, SA and frequencies given in Bislama; 1102-1103, instrumental version
of their National Anthem, titled "Yumi, Yumi, Yumi" ("We, We, We"); 1103-1110+: Open carrier (dead air).
The fundamental frequency (3945 kHz.) was very poor and unusable.
After that I checked out the following:
PERU. I was pleased to note Cuba was silent as early as 0930 UT on 5025; later making reception possible of
R. Quillabamba at 1112 UT, with a series of clear SAs and playing music; weak, but without Cuban QRM, was
enjoyable reception.
KOREA SOUTH. 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 9100, Echo of Hope - VOH, 1123 UT; start of the English
language lesson with the reading from a portion of chapter ten from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," (all
about playing "Quidditch"), along with lengthy explanations in Korean. This program is just aired on the weekend.
Frequencies were not changed last Monday, but have stayed the same for several weeks. What will happen
tomorrow (Monday)?
Voice of Freedom, 5920, with the start of the "Aneun geos-i him-ida" (Knowing is power) program at 1130 UT.
Earlier, PBS Xinjiang (slightly below 7260 kHz.) had a decent signal at 0953 UT, with no tract of Mongolia today.

Greetings from California! Almost daily I hear a carrier on 4835 kHz., but only occasionally do I hear any audio.
Is a low powered Australian station, which last July 2022, was just running 200W. Here is my July 2022 log and the
email reply:
AUSTRALIA. 4835, "Shortwave Australia," 1317-1403 UT, July 16, 2022. Just after my sunrise (1301 UT), I was
pleasantly surprised to actually hear some faint audio; the non-stop music heard today was of a type that made for
not very distinctive reception details, as it was easy-listening music (soft, slow tempo, etc.), but noted with the
following details:
1317-1338: Non-stop easy-listening instrumental music.
1338-1351: Non-stop easy-listening songs.
1351-1403: Back to non-stop easy-listening instrumental music, with no break at the top-of-the hour.
Was too weak to make out any ID or announcements (see below); audio heard today was just bits and pieces.
Today I found the overall propagation to be fairly poor. On a good day, perhaps it will be possible to really
pull in an ID and in the future if Dave increases the power over the current 200w, then maybe some decent
reception. Today was a definite DX challenge! Ron (California log from 2022)

hard to hear. It covers the south eastern part of Australia ok. Apart from any live input I run an identification
announcement every 10 mins that should over ride the program material, At the moment the indents are
computer generated and of female voices from the windows 10 read aloud library, I have them reading in
various English accents to make it more interesting so if you record more than 10 mins you should get one.
I was in Hawaii in 2016 and heard the ABC on 4835 booming in and 2310 was ok as well. I have seen a trace
of my signals on US sdr's but to week to hear. What would be the best time for you to listen, last night I went
off about 1am our time, For the last hour or so was playing a dream time program with relaxing electronic music
and did make an announcement when I closed. The content of the automatic announcements at the moment is.
"This is Shortwave Australia broadcasting to the inland and the islands on 4835 kilocycles day time and evening
as well as 2310 kilocycles night time" or words to that effect. Let me know of any more results."

(Jan 24), in ENGLISH, from tune in at 1302+ UT; the same program repeated 1330-1400. Reading a RFA article
about Korean War soldiers finally IDed, killed 73 years ago in the war. What will their Wednesday program be?
In the past was always in English, not on Tuesday!
TAIWAN. 9774 // 9410 (strong QRM), Fu Hsing BS, still on the air at 1140 UT, Jan 24!! Believe they went
off about 1200; long past their normal 0900*. Their // 15375, was not heard.

Tuned into Radio Vanuatu (11835 kHz. - 3rd harmonic) for the news/sports/weather in Bislama (0702-0718 UT);
one sound bite in English of an Australian who was visiting an indigenous cultural event, etc.; 0718, promo
for RV and PSA for mental health; 0728, PSA for preparing for a tropical cyclone. Well above the norm, even

RRI Nabire (7289.94), 0810 till cut off 0917* UT; mostly EZL songs and some announcers; did not stay on long
enough to get to their Islamic segment (today's call-to-prayer for the Maghrib [sunset] was at 0922 UT). Attached

Hi Komatsubara - Very nice to find out we were listening at the same time!
RRI Nabire Pro 1 (7289.94 kHz.) recently doing fairly well, as they were tonight.
Feb 1 - Heard from 0820 till CNR1 signed on at 0930 UT; anomaly today with no RRI announcers; just non-stop
EZL songs (some pop songs partially in English - "Stuck On You" and "Every Breath you Take") till 0904, when
they switched to playing Islamic flavored songs till the 0913-0924 Islamic segment with the Shalawat Tarhim
prayer and the Maghrib (sunset) prayer; followed by more EZL songs till blocked by a strong China signal.

Heard on Jan 29, on 6035, "Yunnan Radio International" (PBS Yunnan), 1353 UT; playing their IS
(non-stop EZL instrumental music) till 1400, when they gave their usual multi-language SAs;
attached audio with nice clear "Yunnan Radio International," then into Chinese programming.
Today (Feb 3) noted VOS (4900 kHz.) cut off shortly after the top-of-the-hour time pips, at 1301* UT,
as they have been recently observed doing, with their very abbreviated broadcasting.
Have also be interested to note Echo of Hope - VOH (S. Korea), has NOT changed frequencies since before
Jan 12. Checked today; still on 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 9100 kHz. (1330+ UT today). So
will VOH now become like VOP and remain unchanged all the time?
Voice of the People still keeps to their long standing unchanged frequencies on 3480 // 3910 // 3930 //
4450 // 4560 (this, their newest frequency, starts much later than any of the others!) // 6520 // 6600 kHz.

a try.
Kharbarovsk, Russia SDR: UTC Thursday 09 Feb.
Echo of Hope: 0132 UT 9100 kHz SINPO of 44444. Music and male and female presenter
speaking in Korean. More music at 0135.
5995 kHz 0137 much weaker signal gave it a 33223.
6250 kHz 0139 signal is JBA. I am hearing the "Slot Machine" out of Japan also what I perceive
as some noise jamming.
6350 kHz 0143 JBA hearing a female presenter in Korean.
4885 and 3985 No Signal.
Voice of the People: The only two functional frequencies; 6520 at 0146 JBA I am hearing some
jamming.
6600 kHz at 0151 Weak/Readable music with male vocals. Jamming is JBA.
The real winner for this DX session was Echo of Hope on 9100 kHz.
0154 UT with English and some Korean. A good, listenable signal. Male and female presenters
talking about meanings and definitions of English words. If I'm not mistaken, the two
presenters sound very much like the hosts from Arirang Radio that I listen to on Sirius XM
satellite radio in my vehicle. Could there be some connection between Arirang and EOH?
0157 heard the "foghorn" with a male presenter speaking Korean.
Other locations that I tried 9100 kHz. Shinhidaka, Hokkaido Japan SDR had a reliable signal
with some fading. Kyoto Japan SDR had probably the cleanest signal yielding SINPO of 44444.
0258 UT headed to Southeast Asia via the Cha-Am SDR in Thailand to catch RTI Taipei, Taiwan
English service 15320 kHz 0300 sign on. Conditions were noisy and degrading rather quickly with
hard fades at 0308 UT.
Bangkok Thailand SDR was also fading with noise as was the Hanoi Vietnam SDR.

Greetings from California. Excellent to see someone else enjoying the Korean stations, especially from
the States and welcome to Komatsubara's wonderful DX site that I frequently check to find out what is
happening with Asian DX.
Echo of Hope - VOH, is currently enjoying an anomaly, as it was before Jan 12 that they last changed
frequencies. For a very long time they slightly switched frequencies every Monday, but not so since Jan
12. Now they are just like the Voice of the People, with unchanging frequencies.
You might be interested to know that Echo of Hope - VOH, actually has several programs partially in
English, which I often enjoy.
On weekdays, VOH has English language lessons from about 1125 to 1155 UT and is a EBS TV audio feed
for "Wang cho bo yeong-eo"; intro and exit theme song is with the very distinctive "Party Will Come
Alive," by the Wizardz Of Oz/Ruben Martinez - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOnHJJUOuDI ; the usual
intro has announcer saying "English trainer" and giving his name ("Mayu"), then the woman announcer
says her name ("Mini"); I love listening to "Mini," as she is so very animated!! It is mostly in Korean,
but definitely an English lesson. Brief audio attached.
During the weekend, VOH during that same time period has a different program, with the reading of the
"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" story in English, with lengthy explanations in Korea and again is
with a lot of Korean, but definitely the Harry Potter story.
Also VOH has a program with Choi Soo-jin's "Morning Special," with news headlines in English and explaining
words in Korean ( https://home.ebs.co.kr/morning/etc/164/htmlMenu ), starting about 1240+ UT. The news is
actually old news (a week old or so!) and is more of a language lesson than a news program.
Please note VOH is on a four hour program loop. Programs are repeated again every 4 hours!

Monterey and Asilomar State Beach. Sorry to learn about Japan having so much snow. I am very
fortunate that I do not get any snow along the coast during the winter, as the temperatures do
not often get down to below 4.4°C (40 °F) and the summers are also fairly mild.

Recently I have been observing Voice of Turkey causing QRM for Myanmar Radio on 5985 kHz., after

announcer, but now it is almost impossible with QRM to understand the news on Myanmar Radio.

My February 13 (Monday) observations:
AUSTRALIA. 5045, Bay Islands Radio/Island FM (presumed to be them!), thank you Komatsubara for the alert!!
Heard what must be this station. I had not heard it for quite a while and assume they have been off the air;
tuned in at 1233 UT, to an extremely weak signal, with very faint singing; random listening; after 1415 the
signal started to slightly improve heading towards my sunrise at 1457 UT and able to confirm playing pop songs;
finally at 1531, was able to ID Ritchie Valens with distinctive "La Bamba" (the only song I could ID); still
on the air at 1545. This will certainly be a problem for reception of Nick's "Radio DX" also on frequency.
Some QRM from China on 5050. Needs more monitoring to determine if they are back to daily broadcasting?
KOREA SOUTH. Echo of Hope - VOH, has NOT changed frequencies for a month now; heard at 1316 UT with an
anomaly of not as much jamming as usual; 5995 // 6250 // 6350 and 9100, were all fair-good with no jamming and
3985 // 4885 were poor with jamming. VOP, with the usual 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520 // 6600 kHz.
Voice of Freedom, 6045, at 1325 UT, with “Ulisoli hanmadang“ (Our sound festival) program of indigenous music;
I rather enjoy this unique music and today heard it with an exceptionally strong signal. My six minute audio is
posted at https://app.box.com/s/h0cxh8nwe6ue33laaasatni5sfb6m9c4 . At 1600 the good VOF reception was killed by
the start of a strong signal from Furusato no kaze.
MYANMAR/TURKEY. 5985, Myanmar Radio. For a long time Myanmar has had sole possession of this frequency
from 1500-1600 UT, but that is no longer so. Voice of Turkey causing serious QRM for MR today after 1500+ UT;
in the past was difficult for me to make out the news in English at 1530 from Myanmar, due to the announcers
accent, but now with the QRM I can only make out very few bits and pieces. Rather a sad development for me,
as I often enjoyed decent MR reception in the past. Brief audio attached.

Yes, it seems he is indeed back with daily transmissions. Heard for three consecutive days!
Feb 15 - From 1415 to 1510 UT; much better reception today from Shannon Shuttleworth's station on
Russell Island (not too far from Brisbane, Queensland); non-stop pop songs (Cilla Black - "Alfie,"
The Police - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic," etc.); never any announcers; my local sunrise
was at 1455 UT, which helps account for the descent reception.

So far, Nick's transmissions on 5045 kHz., from Norfolk Island, have just been tests. He has not
started regular transmissions yet. Believe he wants to get a better, more powerful transmitter.
I think that what we heard during the recent tests, with the frequent on and off and on again,
was due to overheating of the transmitter, so he is only doing a few random tests.
Bay Islands Radio, had been heard in the past, but seemed to have be off the air for quite some
time, so it was great to see your reports of hearing a station on 5045, other than Nick's. When I
DX at the beach, while in my car, I have no Internet connection, so unfortunately am unable to
check for // programming. Am fairly certain that the format of non-stop pop songs is consistent
with the Bay Islands Radio format. I have sent Shannon Shuttleworth an email inquiring about
what his station's power is and hope he will reply.
Here are a few recent observations:
On 7260 kHz., seemed to have Mongolia and Vanuatu mixing together, at 1010 UT, on Feb 14, as
you also noted. RV had National Anthem 1100-1101* UT and later, about 1145, seemed to be China
and Mongolia mixing together.
Taiwan on 9410 (QRM) // 9774, noted 1159* UT (8:59* PM JST), on Feb 14. No 15375 heard.
Korea:
Voice of the People with good signal on 4560 kHz., 1255 UT, on Feb 14, pop song; at 1300, with
news (Bodo). My audio of one minute of music, then bodo, is at http://bit.ly/3S4co1t .
KBS Hanminjok Bangsong 1, on 6015, from 1200+ UT, with the News at Nine (9:00 PM in Seoul), on
Feb 14; the audio feed from the TV show (YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOTQYFjGSws );
frequent "K-B-S News" SAs; moderate jamming.
China:
Heard Beibu Bay Radio (5050) this morning (1516-1518 UT - Feb 15), with brief, daily spot in English;

Please note WRMI is now on 5050 kHz., believe from 2300 to 0500 UT.
Yunnan Radio International (6035) running late Feb 15; after 1500 UT (the end of their programming) they
start their EZL instrumental music IS loop; today noted cut off at 1549* UT.

in the past, their 60W signal was never strong, but today was heard with an unusually good signal (open carrier),
so I sent off an email inquiring if there was something new happening.
Received the following reply in just eight minutes from Professor Keisuke Hosokawa at the University of Electro -
Communications ( keisuke.hosokawa@uec.ac.jp ):
"Thanks for your message. Yes, now we are replacing the Tx system here in Tokyo. It's still in a testing phase,
but the transmission power is 200 W for both the 5M and 8M bands though we are still working on adding Morse.
The new system has been tested since Jan 17 this year."

foghorn at 0803. Still with a four hour program loop.
1126 - Starting with "he was missing, too, from Important Modern Magical Discoveries, and A Study of Recent
Developments in Wizardry. And then, of course, there was the sheer size of the library; tens of thousands of
books; thousands of shelves; hundreds of narrow rows . . ."; the usual good reception at 1126, while earlier

the Vanuatu Tropical Cyclone Tracking Map. Maximum winds close to the center are estimated and 95KM/HR
(35Knots). This is about 200 KM north northeast of Vanua Lava and 320KM north of Maewo. in the past 3 hours,
Tropical Cyclone JUDY moved in a west direction at a speed of 11KM/HR (6knots).

in mid-song; playing a lot of hard rock music as well as familiar older songs (Beatles - "Revolution," Michael
McDonald - "Higher Ground," theme music from Miami Vice, Jackie Wilson - "Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher And
Higher," The Beatles - Come Together," etc.); QRM started about 0940, which I at first thought might be Nick
testing his "Radio DX," but upon reflection realized it must have been QRM from China (5050); announcers with
occasional brief IDs and one sounding like a PSA; tuned out 1050. Another day of nicely above threshold level
reception!
INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire, 0805-0814* UT, again with non-stop EZL songs and today heard announcer; cut off
in mid-song!

Internet for the latest cyclone info; 1007-1017, sounded like the Prime Minister's speech to the the nation

MALAYSIA. 11665, Wai FM, 1043-1057 UT, March 4. Well above the norm and no longer with the long standing poor audio
(crackling sounds and echo audio), so they must have repaired the transmitter! From 1057+, very strong QRM from 11660,
with VOA and CNR1 jamming. 9835 (Sarawak FM) remains silent since early Nov. 2022. Thanks to Amano (Japan) for this
week pointing out the improved signal and audio.
VANUATU. Radio Vanuatu[non-log] on March 3, from 1030+ UT, unable to find any RV signal on any of their usual
frequencies; tropical cyclone Kevin was having a very strong impact on the Port Vila area about this time. Gary
Pence (WORiog) earlier, at 0939, reported RV on 3945 and harmonics.
Radio Vanuatu, 7260, from 1005 to 1030 UT, March 4; on the air again with news till 1017, seemed to be a long
interview about the weather situation on Vanuatu(?); the usual RV promo after the news; much weaker than normal
and mostly unreadable.

Today (March 7) was the first day I have heard it, so I believe they have either been intermittently testing

Today hear from tune in at 1533 UT till the end of the weekday only program at 1552; heard with the audio feed
from a TV program called "Wang cho bo yeong-eo" (translated into English - Beginner's English); with presenters
"Mayu" and "Mini"; and ending with the usual intro and exit theme song - "Party Will Come Alive" by Wizardz Of
Oz (with Ruben Martinez); reception on the new frequency was very good. My audio is attached.

of mostly easy-listening songs till 0900, when the music became sounding more like Islamic/Middle East type songs; the
Shalawat Tarhim prayer (0909-0916), which was written and recited for the first time in 1959 and is given before the
call-to-prayers; followed 0916-0919, with the Maghrib (sunset) Islamic call-to-prayer; 0919+, more EZL songs; 0929,
perhaps an ID (poor quality audio attached). Thanks again to Tony Ashar for the initial info about the Shalawat Tarhim
prayer. Much appreciated!

decent receptions for a low powered station; audio nicely above threshold level, so I was able to ID many
of the older songs that were playing non-stop.
March 15 - Another day with no SAs, PSAs, etc., so seems to not be a Island FM relay; 1139+ UT, with over an
hour of non-stop enjoyable listening to a wide variety of older songs; Animals - "Don't let me be Misunderstood,"

6105-USB, VC01 (tentative), sounded like Chinese Military numbers station, 1240 UT, March 11; woman reading

INDONESIA. 3325, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One), 1303 UT, March 15; English segment; news, followed by
the usual patriotic song “Bagimu Negeri”; sounded like commentary, which was followed by "Today In History";
all of which was unreadable due to very low modulation, but somewhat better than the usually heard open carrier.
This Channel One programming is very different from the 7780, VOI (Channel Two) relay via WRMI (8-9 UT).
JAPAN. 5006, HFD Radio Station JG2XA, 1112-1155 UT, on March 13; station carrying out a HF-Doppler (HFD)
project; their new 200W signal (open carrier) is doing very well; checking to hear if they have started
their CW SA, but they have not.
KOREA SOUTH: Echo of Hope - VOH, 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 9100 kHz., at 1100 UT, March 13;
heard their signature sound of a foghorn; two months with no change; I am not hearing former 7640 any more;
also Nicolas (France) has reported a new VOH frequency on 7710, which others have confirmed, but I have
not heard them there yet. All of which would tend to indicate VOH is experimenting with their seventh
frequency. Needs more monitoring to find out what develops.
