Re: Asia - Pacific DX log(31) :: [B23] - Ron Howard Oct 31 (Tue), 2023 04:06 UTC No.5527
Greetings, Komatsubara, from California! Thank you for your very helpful postings. Greatly appreciated! Ron

CUBA. 5025, R. Rebelde, Oct 30. Recently acting erratically; 1056 UT, no signal; 1151+, audio briefly cutting
on and off with sports coverage of today's Pan American women's volleyball match between Cuba and Mexico, held
in Chile.

KOREA NORTH[non]. Shiokaze/Sea Breeze/JSR on Oct 30, with new frequencies; 1303 UT, found a good signal on 6085;
went looking for their second // frequency, but was very difficult to find till finally noted on 7280, with QRM.

MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, 1402+ UT, Oct 30. Just before my local sunrise (1428 UT); heard with unusually good reception; program with chatting on the phone, with the caller breaking into song (no music), plus music/
singing. My audio is at https://app.box.com/s/qy171p3rdxnf7u850o80o13zkbzactr8 .

5915, Myanmar Radio, 1108 UT, Oct 30. Very poor reception due to the new schedule of CRI (China) being on
frequency. CRI // 7290.

PHILIPPINES. 11570, VOA, 1158 UT, Oct 30. IS and IDs; 1200, news program in Korean.

TAIWAN. on new 7245 (ex: 7200, which today was still jammed by N. Korea), National Unification Broadcasting
(National Unity Radio), *1100 UT, Oct 30. started with theme music and ID; poor frequency assignment with CNR2
(China Business Radio) QRM; 1136, children singing in English and it seemed to be a brief English language
lesson dealing with "opinion." My audio, starting with time pips from CNR2, ia at https://app.box.com/s/2bjhhscnx0tbq6x9o57337zcrn0hvlbd . Website, which still shows ex: 7200, has not been
updated yet, is at http://www.uni-media.net/ . This week, N. Korea will probably start jamming this frequency.

Re: Asia - Pacific DX log(31) :: [B23] - XYZ Oct 31 (Tue), 2023 05:40 UTC No.5528
Thank you so much Ron-san !!!

This year, my PC broke down several times and I was flooded, so I couldn't continue listening to the radio.
There are still many unresolved issues, so I may be on hiatus for a long time.
This time, I was quite flustered and listened to the radio in a hurry, so there may be many mistakes.
Please follow me if you like !

Re: Malaysia - Wai FM on 11665 kHz. - Ron Howard Nov 26 (Sun), 2023 12:54 UTC No.5537
MALAYSIA. 11665, Wai FM, from 1101 to 1130 UT, Nov 26. Sunday Christian religious service (Catholic?);
singing "hallelujah" and other religious songs; service with the congregation responding. Had always thought
of Malaysia as completely strong regarding Islam, but actually in Sarawak, Christianity is the majority religion,
so it makes sense that they would have a Sunday Christian service via Wai FM. 9835 (Sarawak FM) remains silent.

Re: Malaysia - Wai FM on 11665 kHz. - Amano Dec 01 (Fri), 2023 15:40 UTC No.5538
Hi Ron-san.
Thank you for the information that Christianity is the majority religion in Sarawak. That certainly seems like it.
When I listen to Wai FM in the local mornings, I often hear a song saying "hallelujah" or end a talk with "amen".
My four minute audio is posted at attached.
* 00:00-03:00, Nov 14, 2147’05“-2150’05“ UT, a song saying "hallelujah".
* 03:00-04:00, Nov 29, 2209’30“-2210’30“ UT, end a talk with "amen"@03:19.

Indonesia, Korea (audio) and Vanuatu

INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire Pro 1, 0808 till cut off at 0813* UT, Nov 30. Well above the normal reception;
pop songs (Travie McCoy/Bruno Mars - "Billionaire," etc.).

Dec 1, again above the norm; 0806 till cut off at 0838* UT. EZL songs and announcers.

KOREA SOUTH. 5920, Voice of Freedom (Jayu-e soli Bangsong). Free from any N. Korea jamming on Dec 1
(ex: 6045 heard with super white noise jamming and also rapid pulsating noise jamming, but no VOF there!).

The VOF open carrier heard at least an hour before the start of their Korean programming.

*0753 UT: Intro music; distinctive gong rung three times; Voice of Freedom ID; Republic of Korea choral National
Anthem; enjoyable singing station jingle ("jinsil-e soli, huimang-e soli, jayu-e soli bangsong!" - Voice of Truth,
Voice of Hope, Voice of Freedom broadcast!); 0500 PM KST announcement/time pips; 0800 UT, program "Hamkke tteonaneun
eum-ag-yeohaeng" (Let's go music together).
My eleven minute audio - https://app.box.com/s/d9eiioxzxbcwlbc76onhdscztat4qz1v .

has announced 6pm); station jingle - "jinsil-e soli, huimang-e soli, jayu-e soli bangsong!" (Voice of Truth, Voice of
Hope, Voice of Freedom broadcast!); then the "Bodo gwangjang" (News Plaza) segment, with an item about "Australia."

start of QRN/OTH radar (not NK jamming!)

VANUATU. 9960, Radio Vanuatu, at 0617 UT, with fair reception on Dec 1, with American C&W singer

INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire Pro 1, from 0745 till suddenly cut off in mid-song at 0820* UT, Dec 2. Seeing as
Christianity is a major religion in this area, they have already started playing some Xmas songs ("Jingle Bells"
and "Joy To The World"). My music audio is at - https://app.box.com/s/1vumzt35he346hgkb4pbvyqbmss36b91 .

KOREA SOUTH. 5920, Voice of Freedom (Jayu-e soli Bangsong). Dec 2, now with two strong N. Korea jamming
signals (super white noise jamming and also rapid pulsating noise jamming), unlike yesterday's clear reception.

CANADA. 1200 AM, Spice Radio, from Vancouver, from 1248+ UT, Dec 21. A very rare day to find local KYAA (covering

CUBA[non-log]. 5025, R. Rebelde, still silent through Dec 21. This is maybe the longest absence that I can remember?

- - - - - Thanks very much to Hiroshi for the following:

On December 21st, Shiokaze changed its frequency. 1300 came out at 5930 and 7335kHz. 5930kHz can be heard
clearly. However, 7335kHz is fighting with CNR2 of the same frequency. It depends on the reception area,
but the radio waves in Yamata are crushed here. On Thursday, both the first half and the second half are
broadcast in Korean

on 1405 on 6045 and 6085kHz. There is no interference as both waves are on the same frequency. Reception
conditions are generally good. The signal is a little weak and seems to be on the rise. At the beginning

which was broadcast last week on 1330.

Thanks for the following info: https://cahcn.github.io/posts/2023-12-21-voice-of-strait.html (Google translation
from Chinese):

"After significantly reducing its own programs and frequency for nearly a year, on December 21, 2023 [I actually
heard a change in broadcasting times on both Dec 18 & 19 - Ron], Voice of the Straits Radio adjusted its program
schedule again, extending the broadcast time from 11:55-23:00 [? In the past year I observed VOS only on the air
from about 1145 to 1300 UT - Ron] to 6:25-0:00 .

In actual listening, including the opening song and program preview, the duration of the premiere program is only
6 hours and 30 minutes, and the rest of the time is rebroadcast. The duration of the premiere program only accounts
for about 37% of the total program duration, less than half, and the program production capacity is still insufficient.
Return to the level before the beginning of this year.

This adjustment to the program schedule did not resume the broadcast of Hokkien-language programs, and all-day
programs are still broadcast in Mandarin.

- - - - posted to WORiog:

From  KBS World news Jan. 13.

Radio Pyongyang (targetting the South) goes Off Air as North Shutters Agencies Handling South

North Korea has been shuttering or reorganizing its agencies and bodies in charge of South Korean affairs
following leader Kim Jong-un's declaration that he'd given up on the "hostile" South as a partner for
reunification at a ruling party meeting last month.

North Korea's state-run Radio Pyongyang - which aired broadcasts targeting South Korean listeners - has
been off-air since Friday afternoon. Its website was still down as of Saturday afternoon.

The suspension of Radio Pyongyang appears linked to the closing of agencies that handled interactions with
South Korea, given that one such agency reportedly operated the station.

Radio Pyongyang had carried North Korea's revolutionary propaganda aimed at South Koreans since the 1960s.
The so-called numbers station also broadcast formatted numbers to convey orders to North Korean agents
operating in the South.

The North also erased the Uriminzokkiri or "We Are One" page from its overseas propaganda website Naenara,
which uses North Korea's .kp domain. The page contained content that highlighted Korean reunification.

Other websites targeting South Korean readers that use .com domains have also been unreachable since Wednesday.
They are likely being closed or reorganized in line with the shuttering of agencies dealing with the South.

The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency reported Saturday that a meeting of officials in charge of
"affairs with enemies" had decided to "readjust" several organizations dealing with the South, including the
North Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, the North Headquarters of the Pan-national
Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the Consultative Council for National Reconciliation and the Council for
the Reunification of Tangun's Nation.

N. Korea - Both 3320 // 6160 (Pyongyang BS) and 3945 // 5905 (Echo of Unification) remain silent through Jan 15.

Myanmar Radio (5915.0), on Jan 15, returned to its normal frequency (briefly on ex 5919.0); heard at 1252 UT;
mixing badly with CRI on frequency. Eventually, if Myanmar had stayed on 5919, there would have been a serious
problem when the Voice of Freedom (clandestine) returned to their often used alternate frequency of 5920
(currently on 6045, with pulsating noise jamming and super jamming white noise from N. Korea), which would
have blocked any chance of 5919 reception!

Korea - Echo of Hope VOH frequencies: 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 7720 kHz., as confirmed Jan 15.

Korea - Voice of the People frequencies: 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520 // 6600 kHz., as
confirmed Jan 15.

Korea[non] - Shiokaze/Sea Breeze, from Japan, heard on 5930, from *1300+ UT; special program in Japanese;
reading a collection of poems by North Korean defectors "I will sell my daughter for 100 won"; // 7335, up
against a strong CNR2.

Thanks very much to Hiroshi for enlightening us, with the help of a Google translation:

"This collection of poems was published in April 2008 by Jang Jin-seong, a North Korean defector. He graduated
from Kim Il Sung University in his mid-30s and was in charge of promoting and agitating the Kim Jong Il regime
as a member of the Central Committee of the Korean Writers' Union. He defected from North Korea in 2004. A total
of 71 poems deal with the tragedy of the Great Famine, in which 3 million people starved to death in the four
years from 1995 to 1998.

A mute woman with a crying baby by her side carries a paper around her neck that says, ``I will sell my daughter
for 100 won.'' When the soldier handed over 100 won, the woman ran away and returned with the bread in her arms.
She stuffed it into her daughter's mouth and cried as she left. The scene is said to have been witnessed at a black
market in Pyongyang in 1999. At the time, 100 won was the price of half an egg in North Korea. Under a system where
even writing poetry itself was not allowed, the poems began with ``hymns to rice'' such as ``Our food is the thick
bark of the tree,'' and continued with a series of vivid words about the way people lived to survive, public executions,
and criticism of the system."

Re: Asia - Pacific DX log(31) :: [B23] - Ron Howard Jan 25 (Thu), 2024 04:30 UTC No.5572
CHINA. 6060 // 7225, Sichuan Ethnic Radio (Sichuan PBS-2), 1226 UT, Jan 24. The pop song "Fernando"; 1230,
clear SAs "Sìchuān mínzú guǎngbò, Sichuan Ethnic Radio."

CONGO[non-log]. 6115, R. Congo, on Jan 23. Checking 0505-0550 UT, with no trace of Congo between the brief
silent spots between the non-stop pop music from Japan.

MONGOLIA. 12084.87, VOM, 0913-0930 UT, Jan 23. Clearly in English, but too weak and stronger CODAR QRM to be

USA. 7505, WRNO, 0450-0501* UT, Jan 23. Religious program in Arabic with fair-good signal until 0456, when the
modulation was suddenly, greatly reduced, with the audio of a different religious program; too weak to tell the
language.

VANUATU. 7260, Radio Vanuatu, 0628-0728 UT, Jan 23. The usual format; 0630, distinctive singing station ID
("Radio Vanuatu . . Kingdom of Tonga . . Solomon Islands . . Voice of Papua New Guinea . . Radio Vanuatu");

Re: Voice of Freedom with some new 2024 programs and program schedule changes on 5920 kHz. - Ron Howard Feb 03 (Sat), 2024 00:58 UTC No.5573

KOREA SOUTH. 5920, Voice of Freedom (Jayu-e soli Bangsong). Free from any N. Korea jamming on Feb 2
(ex: 6045 heard with super white noise jamming and also rapid pulsating noise jamming, but no VOF there!).
The VOF open carrier heard at 0720 UT tune-in, long before the start of their Korean programming.

Thanks very much to Amano and pasar malam, both in Japan, for providing the informative 2024 updated VOF info.
Certainly a lot of work went into updating the info! ( https://radio.chobi.net/DX/bbs/?res:5558#5558 )

*0753 UT: Intro music; distinctive gong rung three times; Voice of Freedom SA; Republic of Korea choral National
Anthem; VOF FM frequency announcement ; the usual singing station jingle ("jinsil-e soli, huimang-e soli, jayu-e
soli bangsong!" - Voice of Truth, Voice of Hope, Voice of Freedom broadcast!); "Jayu-e solibangsong-eseo ohu 5
(daseos) sileul allyeodeulibnida" (Voice of Freedom announces 5pm); 0800-0815 UT: "Bodo Gwangjang" (News Plaza)
program (last year aired the "Hamkke tteonaneun eum-ag-yeohaeng" [Let's go music together] program in this time
slot). My twelve minute audio of intro and portion of "Bodo Gwangjang" today - https://app.box.com/s/f0x76o2qmbx73s7vflvoq0tygtpuu8qr .

0820-0835: New program for 2024 - “Bughan-e bupae wa jinsil“ (Corruption and truth in North Korea), revealing the
inside story of the most powerful North Korean executives; during the program, they played the singing station
jingle. My nine minute audio - https://app.box.com/s/5cz8jsglqaamu6r4p0x67vo91jhqmt5h .

Re: Myanmar (5919.0) and Voice of Freedom (5920) + N. Korea double jamming - Ron Howard Feb 03 (Sat), 2024 13:39 UTC No.5574
> Myanmar Radio (5915.0), on Jan 15, returned to its normal frequency (briefly on ex 5919.0); heard at 1252 UT;
> mixing badly with CRI on frequency. Eventually, if Myanmar had stayed on 5919, there would have been a serious
> problem when the Voice of Freedom (clandestine) returned to their often used alternate frequency of 5920 (currently
> on 6045, with pulsating noise jamming and super jamming white noise from N. Korea), which would have blocked any
> chance of 5919 reception! (Ron)

Feb 3 - Yes, today at 1106 UT, heard extremely poor reception of Myanmar Radio on 5919.0, being blocked by the
strong N. Korean jamming (both super noise jamming and rapid pulsating jamming!) of Voice of Freedom (clandestine),
on 5920, which when I heard them yesterday, there was no jamming at all. So no longer any decent reception of Myanmar
on 5919.0, as long as VOF and jamming are on 5920. CRI continues to be silent on 5915, so now would be a good time for
Myanmar to return to their former 5915.

Other Myanmar reception on Feb 3:

5985 kHz. - Myanmar's open carrier on at 1118 UT; audio started at 1121, with fair reception; at 1124, start of CRI's
open carrier, blocking Myanmar (China's audio started at 1130); Myanmar // to 9730.

9730 kHz. - Myanmar heard underneath a strong Alaska signal, till Myanmar off at 1147* UT, while // 5985 continued on.

CHINA. FYI - On Feb 9, at about 1200 UT, a variety of Chinese SW stations will be broadcasting the Chinese Lunar
New Year's Eve Gala; might be worth it to check both CNR1 and CNR2 to find which will relay the CCTV coverage;
also check the many regional SW station's to find who else might air this major 4+ hour production; in past years
I noted Qinghai ("Qinghai News Comprehensive Broadcasting"), etc., with the relay.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCTV_New_Year%27s_Gala - "The Gala has the largest audience of any entertainment
show in the world, and is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's most watched television program.
The 2018 edition of the Gala attracted more than one billion viewers."

8049 USB, VC01 (Chinese Military numbers station), on Feb 6, at 1144 UT; numbers in Chinese; fair reception.
Brief audio attached.

CUBA. 5025, Feb 6; only an open carrier (no audio at all); random checking 0543-1140 UT, but found xmtr off the
air at 1204. Feb 7, noticed off the air 1050+ UT.

KOREA NORTH[non]. 5930, Shiokaze/Sea Breeze/JSR, *1300 UT, Feb 7 (Wednesday). In English; segments "Today's
Newsflash," "Today's News on North Korea Issues" and "This is a message from the government of Japan"; fair;
// 7335, with CNR2 QRM. My audio of the "message" - https://app.box.com/s/7mgdfv0imbkly2yy2xa1b4ngirma4sx7 .

KOREA SOUTH. 7235, National Unity Radio, broadcasting from Taiwan, on Feb 6; 1054 UT, xmtr turned on; *1055,
start of N. Korea rapid pulsating noise jamming; 1100, start of NUR's programs in Korean; 1135-1136, the brief
one minute English language lesson; the phrase today was "Genius is nothing but a great capacity for patience";
last year these lessons were instead in Chinese; heard well above the weaker jamming.

INDONESIA. 3325, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from Palangkaraya, 1106 UT, Feb 8. An unusual day with
actual faint audio (most days is only an open carrier); 1106-1114, news in stilted Chinese; 1114-1117, the
usual patriotic song “Bagimu Negeri,” after the news; this Channel One programming is very different from
the 7780, VOI (Channel Two) relay via WRMI (8-9 UT).

KOREA SOUTH. 6015, KBS Hanminjok Bangsong 1, at 1215 UT, Feb 8. Audio feed from the broadcast of KBS1-TV,
with the KBS News at Nine (today's news is at YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXkPydoCXXc );
moderate N. Korean jamming; surprised to hear some light QRM underneath from PBS Xinjiang (clearly // 4850).

Re: Happy Chinese Lunar New Year! - Ron Howard Feb 09 (Fri), 2024 23:37 UTC No.5580

CHINA. Coverage of the Chinese Lunar New Year's Eve Gala; started at 1203 UT, Feb 9; aired on CNR1 (6125, etc.)
and found // 7345 (CNR7 - Voice of the Greater Bay); later at 1250, also noticed // 7420 (Inner Mongolia RTV);
at 1450 classical orchestra music (still 6125 // 7345 // 7420), but later at 1615 found 7420 was off the air
(1605*) and CRI was heard in English; checked many other Chinese stations, but no gala coverage. YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZW1LzoLUCI .

Voice of the Strait (4900), noticed suddenly off the air at 1131* UT, before the start of the gala; have recently
heard closing about 1130.

KYRGYZSTAN, 4010, Kyrgyz Radio (presumed), at 1455 UT, Feb 9. Very prominent open carrier, but no audio heard.

MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, 1457 UT, Feb 9 (Friday). The signal from Turkey (VOT) was killing Myanmar reception;
later from 1530+ UT, was not in the usual English, but instead in Burmese; announcers chatting and playing music.
Feb 10 is not Myanmar's New Year's Day; the Burmese New Year's Water Festival (Thingyan) is celebrated in April.
Perhaps today was not in English due to Monday (Feb 12) being a national Myanmar holiday (Union Day - celebrating
the unification of the country).

TIBET. 6200, "Xizang Radio and Television Station"; 1600+ UT, Feb 9. Time pips; the English program "Hello Xizang";
intro "Hello and welcome to this special edition of 'Hello Xizang,' brought to you by Xizang Radio and Television
Station"; info about Tibet (rivers, temperatures, rainfall, festivals, etc.); info about the start of the "Spring
Festival" (Tibetan New Year - Feb 10); playing some pop songs; giving contact info; reception was after my local
sunrise (1502 UT). My fairly readable three and a half minute audio is at

After seeing the above log (thanks to "FOX" for the posting!), I started monitoring VOH; during considerable
monitoring was unsuccessful at hearing 7708, but then on March 11, success; at 0936 UT; heard VOH with
definite 7708 and // 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 7720 kHz.; later rechecked at 0943, found 7708
was already silent.

Perhaps they are randomly testing this frequency? Needs more monitoring to determine what is happening!

INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire Pro 1, 0810-0920 UT, March 18. Very slowly fading up.

0810-0817: Segment of EZL songs and announcers.

0817+: Start of Ramadan program; intro and exit with some Middle Eastern/Islamic influenced music/singing;
mostly long monologues; every day seems like a service from a mosque, as there is always a segment with a
group of people giving a response or repeating something; QRN (static) and after 0857, strong QRN.

0914-0917: Maghrib (sunset) call-to-prayer; another day without the usual Islamic Shalawat Tarhim prayer
that is normally played before the call-to-prayer. Absence must be due to Ramadan?

0920: Tuned out as the QRN was just too uncomfortable to listen to.

March 19 - RRI Nabire (7289.93), monitoring from 0820+ UT, but found them off the air.

VANUATU. 7260, R. Vanuatu, on March 18, from 0610 to 0735 UT; yet another day of entertaining reception;
here are some highlights:

0610-0630: Nice Island music/singing.

0630-0636: The often heard Bislama/English service messages (but not daily!); today with more probate info
for people claiming any interest in the estate of the deceased. Distinctive intro and exit with indigenous drums.

0636: Johnny Nash (I thought the announcer said "Johnny Cash," Hi) with "Rock Me, Rock Me, Rock Me Baby" (reggae -
YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55stoMMrE70 .

0646: Brief news items; 23 killed by landslides and extreme weather in Papua New Guinea, etc. (news story -
https://www.thenational.com.pg/severe-weather-kills-23/ ).

0648: Pop songs (Jimmy Cliff - "I Can See Clearly Now," etc.).

0656+: The usual series of promos, ads, PSAs; conference for the UN Commission on the Status of Women being held
March 11-22 [ https://www.unwomen.org/en/how-we-work/commission-on-the-status-of-women ], national referendum,
etc.

0701-0714: News/sports in Bislama (item about the Auckland United football team, etc.).

0735: Discussion in Bislama about the national referendum ("direct democracy").

March 19 - R. Vanuatu (7260), 0620-0730 UT, with the usual format; 0631-0634, service messages with more probate info.

INDONESIA. 3325, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from Palangkaraya, on April 30, yet another day with
fairly readable reception. A few highlights of the English segment:

1316-1318: "Today in History":
* 1999 - Cambodia joined ASEAN as its 10th member.
* In November 2011, the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed April 30 as "International Jazz Day."
* 2008 - Indonesian law passed for transparency of public information.

1318-1322: EZL pop song.

1322-1326: Item about Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Bogor,
Indonesia yesterday for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders Retreat.

1329-1332: "Indonesian Wonders."

1337: Daniel's program, "Let's Speak Bahasa Indonesia."

7289.93, RRI Nabire Pro 1, 0810-0903* UT, April 25. Anomaly of YL & OM alternately talking; not the usual
EZL songs; unusually poor.

April 28 - RRI Nabire (7289.93), 0810-0819* UT, the usual EZL songs; closing time daily varies a great deal.

April 29 - RRI Nabire (7289.93), 0810-0907* UT, mostly EZL songs; 0853-0904, the usual Islamic segment,
followed by Middle Eastern/Islamic influenced music/singing till cut off.

KOREA SOUTH. 5855.6 (good in USB, very weak in LSB, okay in AM) HLL2 Seoul Meteorological Radio, 1305-1312 UT,
April 30. In English with weather conditions at various "observatory" locations in Asia (Beijing, Shanghai,
Vladivostok, etc.); fair/very readable, with good audio.
My USB audio - https://app.box.com/s/ubxxm75ymzxnbp715zltu9xdxasmnipf .

Voice of Freedom is now back on alternate frequency of 6045, checking 1110+ UT, on both April 29 & 30. Ex 5920
still being heard with N. Korea super jamming, but no VOF there; whereas anomaly on 6045, with a good level open
carrier of VOF, but NO AUDIO.

VANUATU. 7260, R. Vanuatu, back on April 24, lost audio at 0701 UT; still being heard with an open carrier
past 0925+.

April 25 - RV (7260) back to normal audio; 0700-0710 UT, news/sports in Bislama (UN/human rights, etc.); 0715,
pop song (Bryan Adams - "[Everything I Do] I Do It For You").

April 27 - RV (7260), 1040-1105* UT. The usual closing segment of religious preaching in Bislama and religious
songs; many "Praise the Lord, Hallelujah"; off after the National Anthem.

April 28 - RV (7260), at 0711 UT, ending the news/sports/weather in Bislama; 0715, long PSA regarding natural
disasters (landslides, flooding of low lying areas, need to boil water, etc.).

April 29 - RV (7260), 0620+, with a long interview about the Commonwealth Games [searching the Web, found out
that Australia had just pulled out of hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games]; at 0708, news "outside the county,"
about the situation in the Solomon Islands regarding last weeks elections and the current Prime Minister Sogavare
announcing his withdrawal from running for a new term as PM, which is a major development due to his being
outspokenly pro-Beijing; 1104*, after NA.

Hi Ron-san
Thank you for the information.
I was listening to Radio Vanuatu on April 27, too.

>April 27 - RV (7260), 1040-1105* UT. The usual closing segment of religious preaching in Bislama and religious
>songs; many "Praise the Lord, Hallelujah"; off after the National Anthem.

* 00:00-02:15, 1103’00“-1105’15“ UT.

VANUATU. 7260, Radio Vanuatu, +0715-1100* UT, April 30.
+0715- Tropical music began to be heard surreptitiously.
-0745- The sound started to come together and male continued to talk.
-0800- The male continued to talk without a time check, and from this time onwards it sounded as good as a neighbouring station.
-0920- Jamming sounds started to interfere with the signal from this time, but Radio Vanuatu was fine.
-1004- The jamming sounds stopped, but there was probably an unmodulated signal, so it didn't sound as good as a neighbouring station compared to the 0800 and 0900 hours.
-1100* The signal ended after the Vanuatu national anthem.

Below is the received audio during the 08:00 PM VUT time check, which was best heard around 0900 UT on the April 30.
A spot about the cyclone was broadcast, and at that time there was an announcement of frequencies for 1125 kHz AM and 100 MHz FM.
There was no announcement of shortwave frequencies.
My audio is at https://radio.chobi.net/bbs/img/9624.mp3 .
* 00:00-03:00, 0858’00“-0901’00“ UT.

Radio Vanuatu basically has a time check every 30 minutes.
The sound received during a time check is summarized below.
Before the Vanuatu national anthem, there was an announcement of the frequency and the end of the broadcast, but at this time there was a shortwave frequency announcement of 7260 kHz.
The start of the broadcast is announced as "~half past 5 in the morning," so it seems to have start at 1830 UTC.
I'm not sure if they are broadcasting on shortwave at this time though...
My audio is at https://radio.chobi.net/bbs/img/9625.mp3 .
* 00:00-00:30, 0830’10“-0830’40“ UT, 07:30 PM VUT “Half past 7“.
* 00:30-01:00, 0859’30“-0900’00“ UT, 08:00 PM VUT “8 o'clock“.
* 01:00-01:30, 0928’50“-0929’20“ UT, 08:30 PM VUT “Half past 8“.

* 02:30-04:30, 1058’30“-1100’30“ UT, 10:00 PM VUT “10 o’clock”, frequency & end announcement, Vanuatu national anthem.

MYANMAR. 9730, Myanmar Radio, 1125-1152* UT, April 30.
Until now, 1100 UT was not able to receive Myanmar Radio because there were other stations such as KNLS Chinese, but the 24a schedule made it a clear channel and I could hear Myanmar Radio well.
It was scheduled to stop broadcasting around 1130 UT, so I continued listening after 1130, but it stopped in the middle of the talk at -1152*.
I thought it had moved, so I checked 5985 kHz, but CRI was there and I couldn't confirm it.

The following reception audio is the reception audio of Myanmar Radio's SJ with the frequency announcement before 1130 and the reception audio when -1152* stopped broadcasting.

Since April 29, VOF has not been heard on 5920 kHz. Instead I am hearing a strong VOF open carrier (NO AUDIO)

pulsating jamming, but no VOF there. Is VOF ever going to notice the problem?

Re: Voice of Indonesia - "shortwave 3-3-2-5 kilohertz and 4-7-5-5 kilohertz" - Ron Howard May 13 (Mon), 2024 16:37 UTC No.5614

INDONESIA. 3325, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from Palangkaraya, on May 13. At my local sunrise (1301 UT)
had fairly good reception, but that quickly faded down to extremely poor reception. A few highlights:

1253-1301 UT: Japanese segment with songs and ending with contact info.

1301-1314: Intro (now announcing "shortwave 3-3-2-5 kilohertz and 4-7-5-5 kilohertz"); "National news" (death toll
for flash floods and cold lava flow in West Sumatra
(news story - https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/floods-kill-43-indonesia-west-sumatra-rcna151922 )
and "International news" (Russian President Putin with leadership shakeup, etc.) and "Today's commentary." My audio
of the new frequency announcement - https://app.box.com/s/ynqaai9ke43mks778ngj11km7jyn63r9 . The new frequency seemed
to be 4754.95, but I will leave it to Wolfie, et al. to get the exact measurement; it was only a weak carrier, with no
hint of audio; so it will take very good propagation to pull in audio from the new frequency.

1314: Patriotic song “Bagimu Negeri”; extremely poor reception (unusable, so tuned out).

INDONESIA. 3325, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from Palangkaraya, with geomag storm causing a blackout on
May 15, checked at 1237 & 1259 UT. Audio extremely faint (completely unusable); very different from my May 13
good reception (my 13th audio - https://app.box.com/s/ynqaai9ke43mks778ngj11km7jyn63r9 ); while today on 4754.83

INDONESIA. 3325, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from Palangkaraya, on May 22. With my local sunrise
today at 1255 UT, the English segment (1300+) is not as readable as it had been recently; their other
frequency of 4754.83 only open carrier.

1246-1300: Segment in Japanese; songs and announcers; fair reception.

1300-1310: English segment; intro; news; "Today's Commentary"; not very readable.

1310-1313: The usual patriotic song “Bagimu Negeri.”

1313-1315: "Today in History" (May 22): (semi-readable)
            * Republic of Yemen was established on this date in 1990.
            * International Day of Biodiversity established in 2000.

VOI (3325) on May 21, at 1301 UT, "national news" (Bali Water Conference, etc.); "international news,"
(Iran's President died in helicopter crash, etc.); "Today's Commentary," about water conference held in
Bali; 1314, patriotic song “Bagimu Negeri.”

7289.93, RRI Nabire Pro 1, off the air May 22, checking from 0825+ UT.

KOREA NORTH[non]. 5920 (poor with QRM from Voice of Freedom, super jamming and rapid/pulsating jamming
from N. Korea) // 5965 (CNR1 QRM), Shiokaze/Sea Breeze/JSR, via Japan, at 1315 UT, Wednesday (May 22);
in English; both frequencies reflect poor frequency assignments.

KOREA SOUTH. Voice of the People, 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520 // 6600, on May 22, at 1145 UT.

Echo of Hope VOH, 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 7720, on May 22, at 1140 UT.

MONGOLIA. 4895, Mongolian Radio, 1223+ UT, May 22. Almost daily I check this frequency with no results, but
recently have had a positive open carrier; today also a definite carrier, but never able to pull in any audio.
Thanks very much to Mauno Ritola, who has also been assisting me by monitoring this frequency and today provides
a positive confirmation. Greatly appreciate his help!

"Please check from this Irkutsk rx link: https://irk.swl.su/?f=4895.00amz10 . Definitely Mongolia! Mauno".
Nothing on their other frequency of 4830, which is normally the case and unheard on 7260 (if there?) due to
a Chinese station on frequency.

MYANMAR. 5985, Myanmar Radio, *1121 UT, May 22. At *1130, the start of a very strong CRI on frequency. Unable
to confirm sign off time on 9730 for MR, due to strong Alaska signal on frequency.

SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, SIBC, 1327+ UT, May 21. Extended broadcast well beyond their normal 1200 closing time;
still on at last check of 1355; playing non-stop pop songs.

VANUATU. 7260, R. Vanuatu, 1043-1101* UT, May 22. Religious songs; off with ID and NA; fair reception.

The signal on 4895kHz is also detected in Tokyo after around 12 UT [9:00 PM JST]. Although the signal strength

Re: Voice of Indonesia now on 4755.00 kHz. (ex: 4754.83 kHz.) - Ron Howard Jun 08 (Sat), 2024 15:22 UTC No.5623
INDONESIA. 4755.00, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from via Cimanggis/Jakarta, 1255-1305 UT, June 8.
Surprised to actually have above threshold level audio here (unreadable) and is now on exact frequency (ex:
4754.83). Too weak to be sure of the language, but seemed // 3325.

Wanted to double check the frequency, so when I got home from the beach, I went online to the Bandung,
Indonesia remote SDR. Yes, shown there as 4755.00. Was the first time I ever used a remote and I believe
I did it correctly. I must admit it was fun hearing VOI with very readable audio on 4755.00.

Re: Voice of the People now on 6601 kHz. - Ron Howard Aug 11 (Sun), 2024 12:57 UTC No.5624
My last report > KOREA SOUTH. Voice of the People, 1333 UT, Aug 2.
On 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520 // 6600.

On Aug 11, VOP has noticeably changed one of their frequencies. Now on 6601 kHz. and best in USB to get away
from strong jamming on 6600. This slight change has certainly helped reception. My brief 1120 UT audio attached.

We should continue to monitor. Will they change other frequencies to get away from strong jamming on some of
their frequencies?

Re: MALAYSIA[non-Sarawak] - Wai FM (11665 kHz.) - Ron Howard Aug 25 (Sun), 2024 00:17 UTC No.5627

MALAYSIA[non-Sarawak], 11665, Wai FM, broadcasting SW from Kajang (on the West Coast of the Malaysia
peninsula, near Kuala Lumpur), not broadcasting from Kuching, Sarawak (located in East Malaysia), where
Wai FM on 101.3 MHz. is based. "Wai" refers to a common call to friends and groups of the same or lower
social status in Sarawakian languages.

1202 till suddenly left the air at 1223* UT and didn't return again, Aug 24. Exceptionally good reception
today till cut off; mostly pop songs and announcers. Live audio streaming - https://radioonline.my/wai-fm/ .
My audio of mostly pop music - https://app.box.com/s/wz5g3rfsunc3wqs4yvinarvf7a3f4wf9 . Sarawak FM continues
with their long standing silence on 9835 kHz.

A reminder of an upcoming event - Malaysia Independence Day (National Day), is Aug 31, marking the independence
day of the Federation of Malaya from the British Empire. Not the Independence Day for Sarawak, but perhaps Wai FM
may still make note of the day?

Found online: "a quote by Martin Luther King Jr., an American civil rights leader, Nobel Laureate, and
Baptist minister. King wrote the quote in a letter to fellow clergymen in 1963, titled 'Letter from
Birmingham Jail'. The letter was written in response to clergy members who called King's activism
'unwise and untimely'. King wrote the letter in the margins of a newspaper on April 16, 1963, and it is
addressed to the clergy, but also to the nation. The quote is often used to highlight the lack of socio-
economic and/or political justice, and it demonstrates how different parts of society are connected. It
also conveys the idea that if anyone in the nation is suffering from a lack of equality, then there is
a threat to any progress towards equality for all."

Re: Australia and South Korea - Ron Howard Sep 16 (Mon), 2024 18:48 UTC No.5630

AUSTRALIA. 4835, Shortwave Australia (presumed), 1325+ UT (my local sunrise was at 1351), Sept 16. Has been
a long time since I last heard positive audio here; today with definite EZL songs and brief announcer (probably
SAs?); due to the format of slow tempo songs and soft music, difficult to provide much in the way of details;
due to QRN, was not quite recordable by me.
Station's license - https://web.acma.gov.au/rrl/assignment_search.lookup?pEFL_ID=9325930 .

This is Dave Stuart's SW station. He is very friendly and back in July 2022, emailed me the following info:

"Thanks for the report. When the ABC ran the station they had 50kw and I run 200w so no wonder you find it hard
to hear. It covers the south eastern part of Australia ok. Apart from any live input  I run an identification
announcement every 10 mins [which I never was able to hear - Ron] that should override the program material, At
the moment the indents are computer generated and of female voices from the Windows 10 read aloud library, I have
them reading in various English accents to make it more interesting so if you record more than 10 mins you should
get one. I was in Hawaii in 2016 and heard the ABC on 4835 booming in and 2310 was ok as well. I have seen a trace
of my signals on US sdr's but too weak to hear. What would be the best time for you to listen, last night I went
off about 1am our time [1500 UT - Ron]. For the last hour or so was playing a dream time program with relaxing
electronic music and did make an announcement when I closed. The content of the automatic announcements at the
moment is: 'This is Shortwave Australia broadcasting to the inland and the islands on 4835 kilocycles day time
and evening as well as  2310 kilocycles night time' or words to that effect. Let me know of any more results."

Also Dave has produced an interesting video of his station - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-0uag9qdhs&t=91s .

The other low powered Australian on 4970, was totally blocked with strong OTH radar.

KOREA SOUTH. Voice of the People.
> From Hiroshi (Sept 2) - "The carrier on 6600kHz continues to be transmitted in an unusual way, with audio
> alternating 1kHz above and below." [6599 and 6601]

I had regularly been hearing both 6599 and 6601, but last week noticed serious problems on these two frequencies,
with VOP's audio constantly cutting off and on. So today (Monday - Sept 16), I was not too surprised to find the
6599 and 6601 audio gone. Instead back to their former 6600.0 signal with steady audio. Also on 3480 // 3910 //
3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520, at 1255 UT, with SNSD (Girls Generation) - "Into The New World" -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_6EiCZOsrE - which happens to be one of my favorite songs; 1300-1311, with the
news in Korean.

Echo of Hope VOH, 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 // 7720, at 1312, Sept 16.

INDONESIA. 4755.0, Voice of Indonesia (Channel One) from Cimanggis/Jakarta, 1300-1350 UT, Sept 24.
Their hour with English programs; news and commentary; up-beat, patriotic RRI song "Mars Angkasawan
