I received fax for the first time in a while.
I received a satellite image from south Korean HLL.

This satellite image was transmitted for 13 minutes before.
But now it is shorter in 8 minutes.

Because of the reception only of the rod antenna,
the signal was weak and noise entered.

Closer look at the schedule reads Mar 04, 2015 where as the current schedule for KVM70 is dated Oct 20, 2016:
https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/fax/PLBZ07.gif

The 13th edition of "Ferrell痴 Confidential Frequency List" (2003) on page 155 has an 砥nknown・Fax station 120/576 listed on 8296kHz.

Farther back in time the Communications Confidential column of the September 1994 issue of "Popular Communications" magazine on page 52 is some follow up information about "a submarine base calling TWR771 on 8296 kHz・
TWR771 is or was a 100 ft. (30.5m) Torpedo Weapons Retriever; US Navy Auxiliary vessel called the Phoenix, home port Pearl Harbor?

Re: Weather FAX Amano - Feb 08 (Sat), 2020 02:50 UTC No.72
Hello! sat_dxer.

The current KVM70 schedule is currently Oct. 20, 2016.
Confirmed.
Why did you send the schedule for Mar. 4, 2015?
I feel strange.
Are you sending the schedule of Oct. 20, 2016 on 9982.5, 11090, 16135 kHz?
I have not yet checked the published frequencies.

I didn稚 know that there was an unknown fax station on 8296 kHz that appeared to be the US Navy.
Moreover, it is Pearl Harbor.
Is it a facsimile wave from Hawaii for the Navy?

sat_dxer.
Thank you for the interesting information.

The following image is the KVM70 schedule received on Nov. 20, 2013 on 9982.5 kHz.
At this time, the schedule was from Feb. 21, 2012.

Hello! sat_dxer

Thank you for the US Navy FAX station information before 1995.
Does NPM still exist in the shortwave band?

Recently, KVM70 weather fax has not been sent at 8296 kHz (8294.1 USB).
Maybe it was a test from the US Navy base?
KVM70 on 8296 kHz is still a mystery!

Hello! DK9FI

Today I checked 3571.1kHz at 0950 UTC.
The fax signal could not be received, QRM by FT8 digital signal of HAM on 7573 kHz.

By the way, Korean weather FAX, HLL send at 3585kHz (3583.1 USB).
Did this do any bad things and generate spurs?
In Japan, there is a case where HLL was received at 3573 kHz.

Not unless it痴 operating on standby waiting for a call, on the following unconfirmed kHz frequencies:
4853.3
9396.0
21785.0

Re: Weather FAX Amano - May 24 (Sun), 2020 13:06 UTC No.78

I understood this matter.
Maybe it's because NPM is almost in standby.
It is prove that the frequency is not confirmed now.
In the future I don稚 know when the 8296 kHz (8294.1 USB) that the KVM70 was sent will also be sent.

I received the KVM70 at 11090 kHz again today.
I merged the two PACIFIC SURFACE ANALYSIS received from KVM70.

Great Job & Fine Business, Amano

You may want to watch for NPN on Guam if also operating standby on call, but any frequency for it, found listed on the Internet is open to question.

Besides the 2003 book listing of 8296kHz noted above, found a 2011 Wefax 120/576 web posting as: "08296.0 UNID"
Likely the original poster just repeated someone else's list and never bothered to confirm or check for accuracy.

Re: Weather FAX Amano - May 25 (Mon), 2020 11:38 UTC No.80
Thank you for the additional information again! sat_dxer

It seems that the 8296 kHz fax station was confirmed in 2011, following in 2003.
In 2020, KVM70 came out at 8296 kHz, but I'm wondering when it will come out next time.

Yesterday, I received the KVM70 on 9982.5 kHz (9980.6 USB).
There was some side interference of the broadcast wave in the first half before 1600, but after 1600 the interference was gone and I was able to receive it neatly.

KOREA SOUTH. 5857.5, HLL2 Seoul, 1009-1012, March 18. In English with weather conditions at different observatories around Asia (Shanghai, Hong Kong, etc.); providing wind direction, wind speed in meters per second, air pressure in hectopascals and
temperature in Celsius; audio better than normally heard (clearer).

Was very interested to note 1209-1212 they gave different weather info; for locations in Korea(?) for "this afternoon," "tomorrow afternoon" and "day after tomorrow"; first time I have actually observed they don't repeat the same info every hour.

The air pressure is 952hp. It seem to be going to the
west and It turn aside to Australia.
These weather maps are the Australian eastern hour,
5pm (17AEDT / 06UTC). Australia is daylight saving
time right now. By the way,it's expected to end on
Apr 1, 2018 Australian daylight saving time.

VIETNAM. Coastal radio stations operated by VISHIPEL (Vietnam Maritime Communications and Electronics LLC) to assist fishing boats, etc. Website, in English, at http://vishipel.com.vn/Index.aspx . Map of their many coastal stations at http://goo.gl/rNB6om .

Monitoring March 24; stations giving maritime conditions in Vietnamese, with countless mentions of 徒ilo-met・(Vietnamese for kilometers). Noted that many stations in the network no longer start and end with the distinctive series of tones that was always used in past years. All site are presumed to be correct.

7906-USB, Qui Phong Radio, *1035-1041*; with YL; no tones.

7906-USB, Hue Radio, *1050-1053*; with OM; no tones.

7903-USB, site? *1050-1051*; VISHIPEL uses this frequency for brief announcements, not maritime conditions. Thanks very much to David Crawford for originally pointing this frequency out to me. Is a challenge to catch this one, as they are infrequently on the air. Also heard *1205 to 1207* (site?); with YL; no tones.

7906-USB, Hon Gai Radio, *1105-1109*; with YL; no tones.

7906-USB, Phu Yen Radio, *1120-1124*; with YL; no tones.

7906-USB, Ca Mau Radio, *1135-1138*; with OM; no tones.

7906-USB, Nha Trang Radio, *1150-1155*; with YL; on with tones, but off without them.

7906-USB // 8294-USB, Hai Phong Radio, *1205-1211*; with YL; started and ended with series of tones.

7906-USB, Vung Tau Radio, *1220-1225*; with YL; no tones.

Also thanks to Takahito Akabayashi (Japan) for all is wonderful past assistance with these stations!

Zhoushan Meteorological Bureau - http://zsqxj.zhoushan.gov.cn/

Google translation:

"Zhoushan Marine Meteorological Radio Station is located in Putuoshan Scenic
Area, Zhoushan City. It was established in November 1994. It is the earliest
professional radio station in the country to provide weather protection for fishing
vessels and other vessels at sea. After sea distance test, the effective listening
distance can reach 500. More than a kilometer. The radio station adopts sea
surface wave and sky wave synchronous transmission mode, and the antenna
is vertically polarized and transmitted; the signal transmission is transmitted by
a 2KW single sideband high power transmitter, which has the characteristics of
large power and long propagation distance. The transmission frequency of the
radio station is 3303KHZ. As long as the vessel operating at sea is equipped
with a short-wave single-sideband receiver, it will be able to listen to the
professional meteorological information released by the Zhoushan Marine
Meteorological Observatory four times a day in any sea area of China and the
three times a day issued by the Central Meteorological Observatory."

VIETNAM. 8812-USB, Ho Chi Minh Radio - Vietnam Coast Station, *1239, July 25.
One of the many VISHIPEL (Vietnam Maritime Communications and Electronics
LLC) coastal stations, marine coastal conditions in Vietnamese and English, each
language segment starting with phone tones; not very readable; today's date given,
"South China coastal waters," "Area forecast for the next 24 hours," "End of broadcast."
My unedited audio at http://bit.ly/2K60MZc . Probably a daily feature, as same noted
July 24.
